About
Amit Karmakar
Executive bio
Amit Karmakar is a product leader with deep experience building AI-powered decisioning systems, personalization platforms, and experimentation infrastructure at consumer technology companies operating at scale.
At Amazon, he led product strategy for homepage personalization — transforming one of the world's highest-traffic retail surfaces into a dynamic, customer-aware experience — and later drove the evolution of cart UX and experimentation systems that enabled faster, more confident product decisions across the organization.
At PayPal, he designed and launched Payment Ready, a unified decisioning framework that assessed customer readiness holistically, reduced checkout friction, and established a shared intelligence layer across payment products.
His work consistently connects deep technology to durable business outcomes — building systems that don't just perform well at launch, but improve with use and hold up to ethical scrutiny over time.
A UC Berkeley graduate, Amit is based in Seattle, Washington. He is actively engaged in the local tech and product community and is interested in what the next generation of AI-powered consumer products looks like.
